Poppy Appeal Update **NEW UPDATE**

The Okehampton area covers Belstone, Exbourne, Sampford Courtenay, Lydford, Bridestowe and Sourton. Lifton is also included.

***********************************
The 2010 Poppy Appeal total to date (wef 2nd Sept 2011) £16,064.03 (2010 appeal closes on 30th Sept 2011)
***********************************

The final total for the 2009 Appeal (which closed on 30th September 2010) was just under £16,000. (Okehampton £14,544.48, Lifton £1,140.85)

These figures represent fabulous generosity from our local community in this difficult economic climate, and a true appreciation of our Armed Forces.

None of this would be possible without the support of the volunteers, who deliver the boxes of poppies, little remembrance crosses, car poppies and wreaths to individual locations and collect everything at the end of the Appeal period. Then there are the “house-to-house” collectors – so important for those who are housebound but still want to wear a poppy a Remembrance time.

Standard Bearers Competition

James Stacey and Ben Stephens, the Okehampton Standard Bearer and his Deputy, achieved first and second places in the 2010 Devon Standard Bearers' Competition. James, therfore, takes over the duties of Devon County Standard Bearer with effect from the 8 January 2011, the second time he has held this prestigious position in recent years."
