Poppy Appeal Update

The Okehampton area covers Belstone, Exbourne, Sampford Courtenay, Lydford, Bridestowe and Sourton. Lifton is also included.

The final total for the 2008 Appeal (which closed on 30th September 2009) was just under £14,000.

The 2009 total (with the agreed donation from the Branch) stands at £14,012.55 and it is anticipated that some further donations will be received before the end of the "Poppy Year"

None of this would be possible without the support of the volunteers, who deliver the boxes of poppies, little remembrance crosses, car poppies and wreaths to individual locations and collect everything at the end of the Appeal period. Then there are the “house-to-house” collectors – so important for those who are housebound but still want to wear a poppy a Remembrance time.

Standard Bearers Competition

James Stacey recently came second in the county championships to Ralph Cox who now takes over county standard bearer duties wef the county conference 10 Jan 2010. Ben Stephens came third.
James will probably continue to be called upon to stand in for the county standard bearer when Cox is not available.
Ben will continue to be Okehampton's deputy.
