How to Join

The Royal British Legion Branch is a membership only organisation together with the Women’s Section and the Social Club.

Contrary to general opinion the Royal British Legion, and its Social Clubs, are not restricted to serving or ex service personnel, but its membership is open to all provided you are interested in assisting with the pursuit of the Legion’s aims and objectives.

How do I join – in order to join you must first become a member of the Branch or Women’s Section.

The application form should be completed and either handed to a proposer, who is already a member, or handed in to the Social Club.

Once you are a member of the Branch or Women’s Section you are now eligible to join the Social Club.

This application form may be completed at the same time as the Branch form and both submitted via a sponsor or delivery to the Social Club.

The Branch application forms are considered at a committee meeting which is held on the first Monday of every month.

The Club applications are considered at a committee meeting held on the second Thursday of every month.

You will be called to meet a membership committee consisting of members from the Branch and Club prior to approval of your application.

The membership year starts on 1st October and goes through to the following 30th September - but you can apply to join at any time.

Currently the Branch fee is £12, the Women’s Section fee is £5.20, and the Social Club fee is £8 (plus a one off joining fee of £2)
Payment may be made by single cheque for both Branch and Club fee or by Direct Debit.

Don’t forget the Royal British Legion is a charity and completion of the Gift Aid certificate if you are currently paying tax is extremely beneficial to the funds at no additional cost to yourself.

You can also make membership enquiries via Email
